Well now. What a year it’s been, to say the least! The energies certainly have been intense. We hope you’re all keeping safe and well. And we thought this month’s newsletter would be a good opportunity to share with you some exercises we’ve found useful in navigating these rough waters.

First of all, we have had some extraordinarily strong planetary alignments over the past couple of years. The planet is in a state of flux. And this can have a tendency to bring our Shadows to the surface. It is imperative we do the requisite Shadow work; ideally, that we have already done so.
|

|
|
Shadow work never finishes. We are always works in progress. If you find intense emotions arising and you haven’t ‘met’ this part of yourself before, then it is easy to become confused, angry, frustrated. To recognize and explore the Unexamined Self requires assistance.
|
|
|
|
|
We have had remarkable results with our Lilith range in this respect. In Her aspect as Mother of Shadows, Lilith will lend you the courage and purpose required to meet and get to know those aspects of Self we find unpleasant, or unable to control. We must learn to love these aspects as fiercely as we love ourselves – for these aspects are, after all, part of the Wounded Child we all carry within us. During the process of Shadow work, we may find we need to reclaim our Power. A simple visualisation exercise is all that is required. You may wish to take an animal guide with you. Draw a figure 8 around yourself, so you are standing in the bottom circle. This twisted loop provides protection. Call into the circle in front of you the person who has your Power. Be prepared that this person is appearing in energetic form so, if you have the ability to read energy, you may see them in their energetic form rather than how they appear in everyday life. You will recognise them though. Ask them to show you your Power. It will be presented to you in symbolic form, be it a box, chalice, apple or whatever form is meaningful to you. Command them to return your Power. Be confident and assertive. Imagine your animal guide by your side, increasing your authority. When you get your Power back, banish the person who had taken it and dissolve the circle. Imagine white light flooding over and through you, strengthening and protecting you, and then fully ground yourself as you come back to full awareness.

You might also feel moved to ‘cut ties’ with somebody. You will see a host of methods describing tie cutting. We don’t subscribe to any of them! By ‘cutting’, the tie actually still retains the potential to reattach. Furthermore, brutally cutting a tie on the astral can result in actual injuries on the physical level. Far better, in our opinion, to flood the connection with love. As you do so, you will see the connection literally dissolve safely away into nothing. No risk of damage, no risk of reattachment. We feel it’s pertinent at this point to restate the importance of Protection to our practice. It should be one of the first things a student understands the importance of and gets to grips with. We’ve noticed of late that it barely even gets a mention when fundamental magickal techniques are being discussed.
